Job Summary:

As a Line Cook at The Northport Hotel, you will play a crucial role in the culinary operations of our hotel's restaurant. You will be responsible for the preparation, cooking, and plating of food items to ensure the highest quality dining experience for our guests. Your attention to detail, culinary skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment will contribute to the success of our restaurant.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Food Preparation: Prepare and portion ingredients for menu items following established recipes and portion sizes.
  2. Cooking: Cook and plate food items to order during service, ensuring they meet the restaurant's standards for taste, presentation, and temperature.
  3. Station Management: Manage your assigned station, keeping it organized, clean, and properly stocked with ingredients and necessary tools.
  4. Timing: Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure that all dishes for a table are prepared and ready to be served simultaneously.
  5. Quality Control: Maintain high standards of food quality and consistency while adhering to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  6. Menu Knowledge: Familiarize yourself with the menu, including special requests, dietary restrictions, and any changes or additions.
  7. Teamwork: Collaborate with fellow kitchen staff, including chefs, sous chefs, and dishwashers, to ensure a smooth and efficient service.
  8. Adaptability: Work effectively in a fast-paced and high-pressure kitchen environment, especially during peak dining hours.
  9. Clean-up: After service, assist with cleaning and maintaining your station, as well as overall kitchen cleanup.
Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a line cook or in a similar culinary role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques, food safety, and kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure during busy periods.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks in a hot kitchen environment.
  • Lift and carry heavy pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and reach.
